In our community, we often hold space for the profound potential of Ibogaine, sharing stories of personal healing and transformation. It is with a sense of quiet excitement and deep gratitude that we now have the opportunity to celebrate a significant milestone in the scientific world. The formal, rigorous clinical trial NCT03380728, which carefully explored Ibogaine for alcohol dependence, has been completed. This work represents a beautiful convergence of ancient wisdom and modern research, and its journey offers a hopeful dawn for so many.

While the final, peer-reviewed paper from this specific study is still eagerly anticipated, we can look to similar research from Brazil to understand the profound potential this work holds. A retrospective study involving individuals treated with Ibogaine for substance dependence has yielded incredibly promising results, which we are honored to share.

Abstract: A Glimpse of the Findings

A retrospective analysis of 75 individuals who underwent Ibogaine treatment in Brazil for alcohol, cannabis, and cocaine dependence has offered a powerful glimpse into its potential. The study reported that an incredible 61% of participants remained abstinent after their treatment. For those who received a single Ibogaine session, the median period of abstinence was 5.5 months, while those who received multiple treatments reported a median of 8.4 months of abstinence. Most importantly, these increases in abstinence periods were statistically significant, and the study observed no serious adverse reactions or fatalities. These findings strongly suggest that Ibogaine, when administered in a medically supervised context and supported by psychotherapy, can be a safe and remarkably effective path to facilitate prolonged periods of freedom from substance dependence.

Celebrating What This Means

The gift of these findings is a powerful wave of hope. For years, the conversation around Ibogaine has been rich with anecdotal success but has longed for the validation of formal scientific research. These results provide just that—a clear, data-driven indication that Ibogaine can be a powerful and safe ally in the journey of healing from addiction.

This isn't just about numbers; it's about lives. It’s about the potential for months and even years of newfound clarity, freedom, and reconnection for individuals who have walked a difficult path. It validates the courage of every person who has embarked on an Ibogaine journey and honors the tireless work of the researchers and facilitators dedicated to this sacred medicine. This work helps build the essential bridge of trust between traditional knowledge and the medical community, paving the way for a future where this profound healing is more widely understood, accepted, and accessible.
